Heading off on your holidays? Don’t forget your pet’s travel documentation too!
Your pet is a valued and loved part of your family, and for that reason you might want to bring them with you on holiday to join in the fun. But are you aware of all the criteria they need to meet before they can travel?
Cats, dogs and ferrets must fulfil all the requirements of the UK Pet Travel Scheme before they are allowed to leave the UK. This also means that on your return, they will be able to re-enter the country without having to spend time in quarantine.
Your pet must be microchipped and vaccinated against rabies at least 21 days before you leave the UK. If you are travelling to a destination within the EU, they will also require a pet passport; our team are very familiar with these and can help you prepare the necessary documentation.
If you are travelling outside of the EU, your pet will need a third country veterinary certificate. This tells the authorities that your pet has had all the protection they need to be allowed to travel.
